A Unity-based digital reconstruction of the Al Jazzar Mosque combining site restoration, detailed modelling, and interactive archival experience.

Project text

Developed collaboratively by Lileas Meng and Qingyue Luo, Digging is an interactive digital reconstruction of the Al Jazzar Mosque created in Unity. Combining site-based 3D restoration with detailed architectural modelling, the project translated spatial and documentary material into a navigable digital replica for PC.

Rather than presenting reconstruction as a static visual model, the project approaches the digital twin as an immersive archive through which architectural space can be explored and interpreted. It brings together game development, spatial reconstruction, digital modelling, and interactive navigation.

The work was produced through the Royal College of Art and the University of the Arts London and was subsequently presented in the Portals of Perception creative computing exhibition.
